Training course - Harnessing strengths and solutions in people management
This one-day course is for managers, small-business owners, entrepreneurs, supervisors, coaches, HR personnel ... anyone involved in leadership, management or wanting to improve productivity and work satisfaction. The course offers a comprehensive framework that is tried and tested and which will equip managers and supervisors to establish supervisory relationships based on strengths and solutions which WORK and which offer better working relationships.
Recruiting, managing, supervising and coaching employees are activities fraught with "highs" and "lows". As managers, we aim to lead in ways that enable people to achieve greater levels of confidence, success, productivity and effectiveness. And yet, all too often, conversations, meetings, memos and evaluations focus on those times that people felt LESS confident, were LESS successful or were LESS effective. Such a focus is discouraging - not only to employees, but also - or especially - to those responsible for providing leadership!
This course is for those who want to build on employees' strengths and competence, and seek pragmatic but potent tools to achieve this. The course explores ways in which the tools and skills of a Strengths Perspective and the Solution-focused approach can be used to lead and manage in ways that might just help people feel more effective in their work.
The course offers opportunities for participants to explore and develop a repertoire of strategies for dealing differently with their current leadership dilemmas and challenges. Participants will gain practical methods for working with employees that open up possibilities for increased competence and effectiveness. A framework for conversations is presented and its use in a variety of leadership and management situations demonstrated. This course is NOT about empathy for low productivity, misconduct or poor performance. The course DOES include skills practice on using Solution-focused ideas in bottom line / "disciplinary" type interviews!
This course was presented successfully in Parramatta in April 2006 to a group of varied business, coaching and HR professionals and will be offered again in the future.
