Training customised for your school or group
We can offer in-service training for the whole staff of a school, the school Executive, the student welfare committee ... any group of teachers who would benefit from exploring some alternate approaches to welfare and discipline.
Examples of training we have provided —
We have conducted in-service training, on the Staff Development Day at the beginning of term, for the entire staff of a number of high schools in NSW and the ACT — including Picton High School and Leumeah High School in NSW.
This training has been either a half- or full-day and has offered an introduction to a strengths- or resilience-perspective in thining about school discipline and has offered some simple tools for teachers to use.
-
We have conducted in-service training to smaller groups from a school, including a half-day with the school Executive from a Sydney high school, exploring Strengths-based approaches to student welfare AND staff supervision.
Michael addressed a primary Principals' conference in South-western Sydney on proven ways to harness and promote resilience in students.

Examples of consultation we have provided —
-
Michael worked with the Deputy Principal of a large Western-Sydney high school, who wanted to develop a Solution-focused welfare and discipline policy.
Michael's involvement included training for the school's Student Welfare committee, ongoing discussion with the Deputy Principal and review of material he was preparing and whole-school presentation.
On day 1 of First term, 2004, Michael and the Deputy Principal launched, to the whole school staff, the new school-wide welfare and discipline policy, which was built entirely on Strengths-based and Solution-focused principles.
